Riding Therapy Volunteer Qualifications:
- Must be physically able to work a 3 1/2 hour session.
- Must be able to make cognitive decisions and capable of learning and understanding written material.
- Volunteers need to make a commitment to one riding session per week for a 6-month period.
- Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old and at least 5 feet tall.
- Hearing must be within normal limits or correctable with aids.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk briskly for 30 minutes.
- Complete the mandatory training sessions.
Program Volunteer Hours:
Thursday: 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
We schedule volunteer workers for the riding therapy sessions based on the volunteer’s skills and interests as well as our program needs.
Other Volunteer Opportunities:
Events & Fundraisers — Help secure sponsorships and donations for events/fundraisers as well as set up the day prior to, work during events, and assist with cleanup following events/fundraisers.
Opportunity Items — We accept donations of opportunity items for fundraisers such as baskets of goodies, certificates for everything from dinners, massages/spa experiences, tools or fishing experiences, overnight/multi-night getaways, limo rides, wine/other beverages for baskets, date night experiences, and much more. The possibilities are endless.
Office Support — Update mailing lists, and help with printing/copying for events or community outreach opportunities.
